PBX Telephone System
A PBX means private branch exchange, also known as EPABX, electronic private automatic branch exchange. This type of system is usually found in larger companies that need more capabilities unlike key phone system. Both phone systems have the ability to handle multiple lines, multiple conversations, auto-attendant, voice mail boxes, for a wide range of office sizes. A PBX, is a business phone system that doesn’t need to have line presence on all its business phones or extensions. It systems serves a particular company and they connect to the public telephone system through trunk lines.
A PBX can also be described as a telephone system within a company that switches calls between company users on local lines while allowing all users to share a certain number of external phone lines. One of the reasons main of a PBX is to save the cost of requiring a line for each user to the telephone company’s central office.
PBX is different from Key telephone systems as PBX’s automatically select outgoing lines for the business.
